Thompson Pump recently introduced its VW series vacuum wellpoint pump, with the vacuum-assisted priming system, designed with the versatility to handle more than one application.

The VW pumps are available in 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch models, and are able to operate unattended for long periods of time. Powered by a diesel engine with a solids-handling, self-priming centrifugal trash pump capable of passing up to three-inch solids and on-board vacuum pump capable of up to 200 cfm, the pump has good air-handling capability and automatically dry primes and re-primes quickly.

The unit is equipped with an air separation chamber that keeps the air divided from the pumping fluid and has an oil reclaiming system that provides re-circulated oil to lubricate and cool the vacuum pump.

The VW pumps are also equipped with a safety shutdown panel; cast iron, rubber-lined abrasion-resistant wear plate; and a back pullout design for easy access to clear the impeller of debris.

“The vacuum pump is driven by a V-belt, which is easily field replaceable,” says Joe Belli, product marketing specialist.
