Aston, Pa. — Topp Portable Air, a leading manufacturer and distributor of portable air conditioners, spot coolers, portable dehumidifiers and temporary heating equipment, recently strengthened its position in the Florida market by opening a fully stocked and staffed distribution center in Jacksonville, Fla. Topp specializes in both the sale and rental of temperature-control equipment for the construction, commercial and special event industries.

The company also opened new offices in Carrollton, Texas, and Charlotte, N.C., the company's 14th and 15th locations respectively.

Topp also has locations in Atlanta; Boston; Chicago; Jacksonville, Fla.; Los Angeles; Miami; Nashville, Tenn.; New York; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia; Tampa, Fla.; Washington, D.C.; Dallas; and Raleigh, N.C. The new offices will allow the sales and rental specialists to better respond to customers' needs.

In personnel news, the company recently named David Smidlein as chief operating officer. Smidlein has more than 18 years of experience in direct sales, operations and senior level management in the rental and access equipment industries.

The company also announced the promotions of Ken Morello, Lance Gustafson and Patrick Choma.

Morello, a Topp employee for 12 years, has been promoted to director of field sales and service. In this position, Morello will oversee all field sales offices as well as all field service teams. Morello previously held the position of national sales and marketing manager.

Gustafson joined Topp three years ago as the operations manager. He will take on the role of senior manager, corporate operations, overseeing corporate operations, information technology, purchasing, safety and facility functions within the organization.

Choma, who began his career at Topp as a sales engineer more than nine years ago, assumes the newly created position of Southwest regional manager. Choma will manage all field sales and service functions at the Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami offices in Florida, and at the Dallas location.
