Lavergne, Tenn. — Thompson Machinery, Caterpillar dealer in western Tennessee and northern Mississippi, recently opened its first stand-alone rental store in Nashville, Tenn. Thompson Machinery officials said the location was chosen because of a large amount of construction going on in and around downtown Nashville.

Thompson Machinery was founded in 1944 by DeWitt Thompson Jr. It currently offers rentals from a number of dealer locations. It has eight branches in Tennessee and three in Mississippi.
