NationsRent last week hired former technology executive James Haid as executive vice president and chief information officer. Haid will be responsible for leading the company’s overall technology strategy and providing oversight for the design and ongoing management of its technical infrastructure.

As president of Broadband Networks Group for Convergent Media Systems, Haid developed program plans and information systems for the deployment of a national broadband network to support high-resolution interactive video and corporate communications for Fortune 500 companies. At PSINet, Haid was responsible for global network operations, systems administration and engineering, and at AT&T, Haid supported key advanced technology accounts for government agencies.

“Over the past four months as our acting CIO, Jim has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the improvement of our systems infrastructure that will support our core business strategies,” said NationsRent CEO Jeff Putman.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based NationsRent is No. 6 on the RER 100, with 268 locations in 100 states, including 100 Lowe’s Home Improvement locations.
