DENVER — HSS RentX plans to expand its presence in key metropolitan markets, company officials said last month. Under new owner 3i Group, the Denver-based rental firm plans to open a new branch in Denver this month and a branch in the Los Angeles area in June.

The announcement follows the recent closings of select branches within Florida, Colorado and Virginia, where the company still operates, as well as the Michigan cluster.

“The re-shaping of our branch footprint is a strong first step in our program to strengthen our network and distribution methods,” said HSS RentX chief executive Paul Nolan. “The HSS business model, developed over 40 years of rental industry experience, is a powerful tool for customer service. We plan to optimize that service in markets where we can also achieve the best results for the company.”

HSS RentX is the United States operation of British-based HSS Service Group. In January, a management team backed by European venture capital firm 3i Group acquired HSS from The Davis Service Group plc. The company, No. 18 on the RER 100, currently operates more than 70 tool, equipment and event branches in the United States.
